CPR Training involves the choice between two different class opportunities — the Heartsaver class

or the Basic Life Support (BLS) (advanced) class.

HEARTSAVER

Heartsaver is the option for the non-healthcare professional and teaches the basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for sudden cardiac arrest that could double or even triple the chances of survival. Manikins are provided for practice and include Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Other topics of study include heart attacks, strokes, choking and drug overdoses for the adult, child and infant.

BLS (Advanced)

BLS is the advanced course for those in the healthcare industry and is required for nurses, dental assistants and other professionals in healthcare related fields. Advanced resuscitation training, including AED instruction and hospital equipment/procedures are included for all age-groups. Other topics offer instruction on how to respond to choking, drug overdoses and other types of life-threating emergencies for all age-groups. The BLS participate must take and pass a 25-question written exam administered at the end of the class

INFORMATION PROVIDED BY weather-atlas.com

Winter in Mississippi presents mild to cold conditions, with short-lived cold spells and occasional freezing in the north. The Siberian Express may bring bitter cold at times. Average low temperatures in January, the peak of winter, drop to 27°F (-2.8°C) in the north, and temperatures below freezing register for less than ten days along the coast. Snowfall and sleet are measurable, with the northern region receiving the highest amounts. Despite the cooler temperatures, the winter season remains relatively mild, particularly when compared to more northern states. January is the coldest month.

February continues the winter season in Mississippi but brings a subtle shift towards milder conditions. The average low temperature in the northern region during January's peak cold slowly begins to rise. However, the state can still experience a blend of cold continental and warmer tropical air, influenced by polar and subtropical jet streams.
